"He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. Galatians 3:14 NIV
Dear Brothers
and Sisters in Christ,
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus
Christ. We praise the Lord God for all He is doing in our lives and
in the ministry here in
The first week in September found us back in the jungle. A team of three from Riverstone Wesleyan
Fellowship, Dick and Judy Gabriel and Steve Egan, came to help us with the
construction of the church-discotheque in Palcazu. The church there is still in the early stages
of formation and is called Sweeter than Honey.
The team helped us to construct the floor, walls, and roof structure for
the stage and pastors house. They also
provided discipleship teachings each night to the small church group in the
house of Pastor Mario Sillo. We saw the
Lord Jesus move in the lives of different individuals through the teaching and
prayer.

Mario, Pablo, and Arthur
work on the back wall of the pastors residence, while Dick, Judy and Steve
prepare the wood.
On October 23, we will be sending two
national missionaries from the Escuela Misioloica Latino America (EMLA) to work
with Mario and Pablo Paredes in Bermudez and Palcazu. One of these missionaries is Miguel Chavez
who has been in the discipleship program in Huancayo. They will be working with Mario and Pablo to
establish discipleship groups in both Bermudez and Palcazu and to help in
evangelism in both areas. The local
churches in Bermudez, El Nuevo Onda, and Palcazu, Mas Dulce que la Miel, will
be providing food and lodging for these workers. Arthur will be providing the transportation
costs.

Miguel Chavez
Edwin Gonzales has been working closely
with Arthur to prepare for the return of the missionary team to the jungle area
of Iscosazin on October 23, also. The
team will be continuing the discipleship work in the seven areas around
Iscosazin. The team will consist of five
national missionaries from EMLA, Edwin, and two local workers, Enrique y
Bernardo. One of these missionaries,
Hayde Mayhuire, and Edwin will be married on October 20 and have committed to
work with Arthur for two years to continue to establish the work in the region
of Iscosazin and to help develop a mission center there. Arthur is currently
providing the support for these national missionaries, but as we are able to
develop a mission center in Iscoszin, we hope to be able to create projects
that will provide part of the support needed, and hopefully will self-sustain
the work in this area. The discipleship
groups that currently exist are not able to support the work monetarily, but do
give offerings of some food products that they produce such as yucca and
bananas.
Pastor Alberto Fernandez traveled to
Huanuco to help the new discipleship groups there get off to a strong
start. He and the workers there, Manuel
Villar, Rafael Sanchez, and Pablo Villogas, visited seven different areas,
sharing the vision for the discipleship work.
Through the discipleship process, we hope to develop workers to help us
spread the Gospel to places in this region where no churches presently
exist. There are currently 120 folks in
8 groups meeting in this region.

The
discipleship ministry has continued to grow and we now have a little over 900
folks involved. Our oldest groups have
entered the last phase of the program.
As this phase is completed these groups will transition into open groups
that will be used to evangelize and receive new Christians into the body of
Christ. Once this process is started the
growth of the discipleship ministry should accelerate. This process should begin the spring of
2008.
We have been working to develop income to sustain
the ministry from sources here in
Currently, Arthur and Mary Alice are the
only source of support for these ministries.
