"Then they said to each other, "We're not doing right.  This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves."

2 Kings 7:9a NIV

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.  We praise the Lord God for all He is doing in our lives and in the ministry here in Peru, for filling us with His Holy Spirit to guide and direct each of our steps, and for pouring out His grace upon us through His precious Son, Jesus Christ. We hope and pray that He has been blessing you wonderfully during this past month and that your life has been filled with His glorious riches and mercy.  We want to give you a special thanks for your continued prayers for us and support of the ministry in Peru.  We definitely see the results of your prayers for us and for the ministry here.  You are special people called by our Lord Jesus Christ to minister to His children.  Thank you for your faithfulness to His calling.  Thank you for your love for Him, for us, and for His children.

Many times I can identify with the four men who made the comment in the above verse from 2 Kings. I do not always share the Good News that I have that would relieve the suffering of the hungry and thirsty people around me.  Many of the churches here, as well, are guilty of hiding the Good News of salvation and freedom in Jesus Christ while people around us are dying from spiritual hunger and thirst. We have the Bread of Life and the Living Water, but are not willing to share it with the starving.  The wonderful thing that is happening is that those that are involved in discipleship are beginning to see this, and are becoming more desirous of sharing their faith in Jesus Christ with others.  As they do they realize the depth of the spiritual hunger and thirst that is all around them.  Their hearts are becoming burdened for the lost.  We give praise and glory to the Lord Jesus for this, that they have begun to capture the vision and feel the heart of God for those living in spiritual darkness.

We had a team of four brothers in Christ come from Asbury United Methodist Church to work with us, Pastor Gonzalo Hualcus, and the church in Chilca the first of the month. They came with the specific mission to help train up the church to evangelize those in the community around them.  The youth of the church in Chilca actually conduct four Kid's Clubs each weekend, but Pastor Gonzalo had never been able to convince the church members to go out and share the Gospel message with the families of these children.  The team participated in the Kid's Club and shared their testimonies and preached in the church services over the weekend.  On Monday morning the team held a workshop to present and teach the use of the Evangecube as a tool for sharing the Gospel message.  The church members were hesitant at best.  In the afternoon on Monday and twice a day on Tuesday and Wednesday, the team went out with church members to put into practice what they had been taught.  By the end of the time together the church members were enthusiastically sharing their faith with others. As a result 136 people gave their lives to the Lord during the training and several of these attended the evening worship services.  The following Sunday, the church did not have enough space to accommodate those that came to the morning and evening church services.

We sent out our first intermediate term missionary team to Shiringamazu the first of October, also.  Four of our workers, Genaro, Keven, Jonathan, and Luis went to Shiringamazu for two months to continue with follow-up and discipleship with the new believers from the medical mission in June.  We currently have almost 70 people in the discipleship ministry in the three different communities of Shiringamazu; Pueblo Libre, San Luis, and Progreso.  These missionaries will spend two to three months working in these jungle communities.  After they return we will begin planning for them to return in March of 2007 for another term.  Please pray for them and the work for the Lord Jesus Christ in Shiringamazu, and pray that the Lord would send financial support for them to return to the work in March.

On the last Friday of the month we moved our prayer and praise service, for one night, to a larger more public place.  The praise group prepared a small concert of prayer and praise.  We had many people come in off the streets to participate in the event, and even though the event lasted for two and a half hours no one wanted to leave when it was over.  We are looking for a more permanent place to move this ministry that is larger than our house, since we have outgrown the house.  We are praying for a place that is more in the downtown area and larger.  This would also allow us to have a place to invite new believers to come as we evangelize more in the streets.  Please pray that the Lord Jesus would give us favor in finding the correct place, and the method and funding to obtain it.

Our partner ministry, Mision-AMEN, was able to acquire the initial 9.5 acres of land with an option to purchase an additional 2.5 acres in the future that will be used in the development of a project for agricultural production and ministry support.  The project will be designed to provide jobs in the community and income to help sustain the church plants and mission work in the surrounding valley.  A center for missionary training is also part of the project plan.  Arthur, Roli, and Aarondo were able to visit the site and do the surveying and testing necessary to develop the final designs for the project.  Larry William form The Mission Society global resource team is scheduled to visit in January.  Larry is an agricultural expert and will be analyzing the soils and helping us to develop the agricultural part of the project.  The land is already being used to produce its first crops, while the rest of the project is being developed. We are praying that the Lord Jesus Christ, will call a number of construction and evangelism teams to work with us on this project during the next several years.  Please pray for Arthur and Roli as they do the final design work on the project.  Please pray that the Lord would begin to raise up teams to help with this project.

Because of the growth of the ministry and to try to begin a process of making the ministry here self-sustaining, we are trying to set up a Peruvian non-profit organization that will help us to achieve this goal.  We have received permission from the author and publisher of some of the books we use for discipleship to print and sell the books here in Peru.  This will lower our cost of materials considerably, and may even provide some Peruvian sourced income to help support the ministry.  You should know that we, as missionaries cannot under Peruvian law receive income here from Peruvian sources.  The association were are forming, however, can.  The association can also handle the printing of the materials.  This will also allow us to pursue some micro-business projects here that could also help to sustain the ministry and our Peruvian missionaries and staff.  Please be in prayer for these projects and for us to have wisdom form the Lord Jesus in these endeavors.

Please continue to be in prayer for the continued growth in the ministries here in Peru, especially in the Canta Valley, Huancayo, Palcazu, Pelmaz, Bermudez, Shiringamazu,  Sambillo Alto, Rio Azul Ugarteche, San Augustine, KM 40 and Tinahuani.  Also, pray for the ministries in Huancayo, especially the Colegio El Camino. Please continue to pray that the Holy Spirit would continue to awaken and change hearts among the young adults of Huancayo.  Please give praise to the Lord for bringing us additional persons called to be part of the missionary team in Peru.  Covenant with us to continue in prayer for the young adult leadership team and their continued ministry to the spiritually lost and dying youth of Huancayo.  Please pray for the leaders of  the churches in Peru, and for their spiritual protection and growth in the Lord Jesus.  Also be in prayer for Obed and Cynthia Alvarez, the head of Mision-AMEN, as well as their other leaders and missionaries.  Please pray for our safety as we travel, and that we will boldly speak God's Word wherever we go.

We pray that God is drawing you closer and closer to Him every day. God bless you.  We love you.

  Yours in Christ,
