"My prayer is not for them alone.  I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.  John 17:20-21 NIV

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.  We praise the Lord God for all He is doing in our lives and in the ministry here in Peru, for filling us with His Holy Spirit to guide and direct each of our steps, and for pouring out His grace upon us through His precious Son, Jesus Christ. We hope and pray that He has been blessing you wonderfully during this past month and that your life has been filled with His glorious riches and mercy.  We want to give you special thanks for your continued prayers for us and support of the ministry in Peru.  We definitely see the results of your prayers for us and for the ministry here.  You are special people called by our Lord Jesus Christ to minister to His children.  Thank you for your faithfulness to His calling.  Thank you for your love for Him, for us, and for His children.

We celebrated Labor Day in Peru on the first of May with another gathering event of our discipleship groups.  We had over 500 in attendance, and Manuel Villar from Huanuco shared his testimony.  One of the pastors that is in one of the discipleship groups, Pedro Duran, preached the message, and our praise band led us in wonderful worship.  It is a joy to have an event where the children of God from different denominations, different cultures, and even different language groups praise and worship together in one accord.

The first Saturday in May we were blessed to be able to open a new Kid’s Club in Pichcus, working with the youth from the Iglesia Misionera Evangelica.  The club has been having an average attendance of around 75 children with a few adults attending, also.  Mary Alice has been meeting each week with the youth to prepare and train them.  They are doing an excellent job.  The church is supporting the club by providing the fruit for the children each week.

A medical team from Paintsville, Kentucky came down for a medical mission in the jungle in Villa America.  The team of 13 medical professionals led by Dr. John Furcolow saw over 1000 patients in this small jungle town.  Our Peruvian missionary team worked hard in the spiritual area presenting the Gospel message and counseling with each patient.  The Lord Jesus blessed us with 118 professions of faith and 67 persons who recommitted their lives to the Lord.  Please be in prayer for these new believers and for our workers as they do follow up ministries and discipleship with them. We already have over 80 involved in discipleship and our workers are stretched thin trying to meet the spiritual needs of this area. We currently have 3 of our workers from  this region itself, Bernardo, Enrique, and Jose.  Pray also that the Lord would continue to work through them and would raise up more workers from within the region.

Arthur had the privilege of sharing the message at the Mother’s Day celebration at the Colegio El Camino School, where Mary Alice and Justin teach, and where Joshua and Mary Beth study.  The children had prepared various musical presentations, skits and dramas.  The children did a wonderful job of honoring the mothers.

A new mission intern, Sallie Lunsford, joined us this month.  She will be working with us through mid-August.  She is working in the children’s ministries with Mary Alice and helping with the mission teams that come to work with us in Peru. Please pray for Sallie as she adjusts to life in Peru and becomes more involved in the ministries.

Please continue to be in prayer for the continued growth in the ministries here in Peru, especially in the Canta Valley, Huancayo, Palcazu, Pelmaz, Bermudez, Shiringamazu, Villa America, Huánuco, Sambillo Alto, Rio Azul Ugarteche, San Augustine, KM 40 and Tinahuani.  Also, pray for the ministries in Huancayo, especially the Colegio El Camino. Please continue to pray that the Holy Spirit would continue to awaken and change hearts among the young adults of Huancayo.  Please give praise to the Lord for bringing us additional persons called to be part of the missionary team in Peru.  Covenant with us to continue in prayer for the young adult leadership team and their continued ministry to the spiritually lost and dying youth of Huancayo.  Please pray for the leaders of the churches in Peru, and for their spiritual protection and growth in the Lord Jesus.  Also be in prayer for Obed and Cynthia Alvarez, the head of NEWMA (Mision-AMEN), as well as their other leaders and missionaries.  Please pray for our safety as we travel, and that we will boldly speak God's Word wherever we go.

We pray that God is drawing you closer and closer to Him every day. God bless you.  We love you.

  Yours in Christ,

Arthur, Mary Alice, Benjamin, Joshua, and Mary Beth Ivey
