"I, even I, am the Lord, and apart from me there is no savior.”

Isaiah 43:11 NIV

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.  We praise the Lord God for all He is doing in our lives and in the ministry here in Peru, for filling us with His Holy Spirit to guide and direct each of our steps, and for pouring out His grace upon us through His precious Son, Jesus Christ. We hope and pray that He has been blessing you wonderfully during this past month and that your life has been filled with His glorious riches and mercy.  We want to give you special thanks for your continued prayers for us and support of the ministry in Peru.  We definitely see the results of your prayers for us and for the ministry here.  You are special people called by our Lord Jesus Christ to minister to His children.  Thank you for your faithfulness to His calling.  Thank you for your love for Him, for us, and for His children.

We started the month of July with a mission team from Asbury UMC in Kentucky.  This team of 23 lead by Jerry Armelli and Pastor John Boyd helped continue the construction of a classroom building for the Casa de Oración Quechua Church in Chilca.  The team mixed and poured concrete and laid brick to helped with the construction of the sub-walls and walls of the structure.

The team also had a medical and eye care group that treated minor medical problems and measured eyes and fitted eyeglasses.  The youth on the team helped us with one of our new Kid’s Clubs in Azapampa.  They did well especially considering that they had close to 600 children in attendance.

With the help of Kevin and Kathy Reinertson and Sugar Hill United Methodist Church from Sugar Hill, Georgia we held an evangelism concert tour in the jungle during the school break.  We took our praise and worship team, our dance team, and children’s workers from Huancayo and held two day events in Puerto Bermudez and Palcazu.

We had a Kid’s Club each morning along with talks for the youth.  In the afternoon the dance team held a dance class for the children and youth, and we had talks for couples.  Each night we had a movie and concert.  All of these events were held in local discotheques and were attended by non-believers.  Pastor Pablo informed us that, “The presence of the group in Bermudez and Palcazu was a great blessing.  We are receiving good comments, and the people have been encouraged to seek the things of God in a new move of the Holy Spirit.”

We have been experiencing various attacks against our ministries recently.  A local pastor that does not know us went on the Christian radio station in Huancayo and announced that we were the antichrist.  Two times in the past month the local police have interrupted our prayer meeting accusing us of making too much noise; however, we are in the center of the discotheque and night club zone, and one of these times we were in the middle of our prayer time, not using any of our sound equipment.  Pablo Paredes informed me that the Missionary Movement church and the Adventist church has tried to get the local mayor to close our discotheque in Bermudez claiming that it is evil because even though we preach the Gospel and use Christian music,  we use colored lights. Please pray against the work of the enemy and for the freedom of those persons the enemy is using against us.

The discipleship ministry continues to grow.  We are now opening new study groups in the Huanuco area working with Manuel Villar and Pablo Villogas. By the end of next month we will probably have at least 5 groups with approximately 60 people.  The ministry continues to grow in Huancayo with approximately 650 people involved.  We just opened our first group in the prison in Huancayo with 13 participants, and the leader believes he will probably open another group  there in the next month or so.

Please continue to be in prayer for the continued growth in the ministries here in Peru, especially in the Canta Valley, Huancayo, Palcazu, Pelmaz, Bermudez, Shiringamazu, Villa America, Huánuco, Sambillo Alto, Rio Azul Ugarteche, San Augustine, KM 40 and Tinahuani.  Also, pray for the ministries in Huancayo, especially the Colegio El Camino. Please continue to pray that the Holy Spirit would continue to awaken and change hearts among the young adults of Huancayo.  Please give praise to the Lord for bringing us additional persons called to be part of the missionary team in Peru.  Covenant with us to continue in prayer for the young adult leadership team and their continued ministry to the spiritually lost and dying youth of Huancayo.  Please pray for the leaders of the churches in Peru, and for their spiritual protection and growth in the Lord Jesus.  Also be in prayer for Obed and Cynthia Alvarez, the head of NEWMA (Mision-AMEN), as well as their other leaders and missionaries.  Please pray for our safety as we travel, and that we will boldly speak God's Word wherever we go.

We pray that God is drawing you closer and closer to Him every day. God bless you.  We love you.

  Yours in Christ,
