"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls.  When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything and bought it."

Matthew 13:45-46 NIV

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.  We praise the Lord God for all He is doing in our lives and in the ministry here in Peru, for filling us with His Holy Spirit to guide and direct each of our steps, and for pouring out His grace upon us through His precious Son, Jesus Christ. We hope and pray that He has been blessing you wonderfully during this past month and that your life has been filled with His glorious riches and mercy.  We want to give you a special thanks for your continued prayers for us and support of the ministry in Peru.  We definitely see the results of your prayers for us and for the ministry here.  You are special people called by our Lord Jesus Christ to minister to His children.  Thank you for your faithfulness to His calling.  Thank you for your love for Him, for us, and for His children.

The Lord Jesus Christ continues to advance the ministry and bring the Kingdom of Heaven to Peru.  New ministry opportunities continue to open up for us, and the Lord is continuing to bring new workers into the harvest.  In January each year there is a special time of celebration at the Mission Center of NEWMA (formerly Mision-AMEN) in Lima.  There is a gathering of their missionaries from around Peru and around the world.  Missionaries were there from England, France, Spain, Cuba, the United States and other countries.  This year Benjamin and Arthur were able to attend the celebration with over 400 of the NEWMA missionaries.  It was a wonderful time of sharing about what the Lord is doing around the world and throughout  Peru.  Arthur was able to get to know even more of the NEWMA missionaries and to spend some time planning possible ministry opportunities for 2008 with them and Cynthia Alvarez.  We identified at least two areas of great need: one in the Puno region in the altiplano of Southern Peru and the other in the northern jungle regions of the Aguaruna peoples.  Please be in prayer for the Lord to give us guidance and wisdom in the planning for these and other ministries for 2008.

During this event we had the privilege of dedicating the land for the project for the Center for Production and Renewal.  The land is only a few weeks away from producing its first crop of purple corn with an expected harvest of approximately 40,000 kilos.  Arthur and Roly have been working hard to finish the design drawings for the center and hope to have them complete with a permit for construction by the end of February.  The center will be used for missionary training, pastoral training and renewal,  agricultural research and training, and as a retreat center.  Larry Williams with The Mission Society Global Resource team - AgriMissions visited the project with Arthur in early January and will be working with us to develop the agricultural production and markets for exportation of products, and the possibility of establishing a coop with those in the valley to improve production and marketing possibilities for the people in the region.  He will also be helping us to teach appropriate technology, urban gardening, and dry land gardening to folks that live in the region through the center.  Please pray that the Lord will begin to call construction teams to help us with the construction of the center starting in late spring of this year.

Pablo and Floria Paredes from Bermudez spent a few days with us this month in Huancayo.  Arthur and Pablo spent time working on the expansion plan for the soft drink bottling plant in Bermudez.  This plant is used to generate income to support the work in the Bermudez - Palcazu region.  Expansion of this plant will allow us to support more workers.  Once we have this plant fully functional, we will be able to use it as a model to start others to help sustain the ministry in different regions.  Pablo and Arthur also spent time planning the ministry goals and events for 2007.  We will have at least two North American teams in the jungle this year, one in Villa America and one in Palcazu.  We also hope to have our praise band do a concert tour in Bermudez and Palcazu in October.  Please be in prayer for these plans and activities.

Please continue to be in prayer for the continued growth in the ministries here in Peru, especially in the Canta Valley, Huancayo, Palcazu, Pelmaz, Bermudez, Shiringamazu,  Sambillo Alto, Rio Azul Ugarteche, San Augustine, KM 40 and Tinahuani.  Also, pray for the ministries in Huancayo, especially the Colegio El Camino. Please continue to pray that the Holy Spirit would continue to awaken and change hearts among the young adults of Huancayo.  Please give praise to the Lord for bringing us additional persons called to be part of the missionary team in Peru.  Covenant with us to continue in prayer for the young adult leadership team and their continued ministry to the spiritually lost and dying youth of Huancayo.  Please pray for the leaders of  the churches in Peru, and for their spiritual protection and growth in the Lord Jesus.  Also be in prayer for Obed and Cynthia Alvarez, the head of Mision-AMEN, as well as their other leaders and missionaries.  Please pray for our safety as we travel, and that we will boldly speak God's Word wherever we go.

We pray that God is drawing you closer and closer to Him every day. God bless you.  We love you.

  Yours in Christ,

Arthur, Mary Alice, Benjamin, Joshua, and Mary Beth Ivey
