"Jesus replied, "You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God." Matthew 22:29 NIV

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.  We praise the Lord God for all He is doing in our lives and in the ministry here in Peru, for filling us with His Holy Spirit to guide and direct each of our steps, and for pouring out His grace upon us through His precious Son, Jesus Christ. We hope and pray that He has been blessing you wonderfully during this past month and that your life has been filled with His glorious riches and mercy.  We want to give you a special thanks for your continued prayers for us and support of the ministry in Peru.  We definitely see the results of your prayers for us and for the ministry here.  You are special people called by our Lord Jesus Christ to minister to His children.  Thank you for your faithfulness to His calling.  Thank you for your love for Him, for us, and for His children.

We encounter more and more each day how many people have supposedly given their lives to the Lord Jesus, but have never been taught the basics of the Christian faith.  Many times these people have not really given their lives to the Lord Jesus, but are trusting in something other than the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus for their salvation.  The message of the Bible has been distorted or never taught, and in many places has been replaced by many human traditions that are not Biblical.  As these people encounter the living Lord Jesus Christ through the scriptures in our discipleship ministry, they are being saved and set free.  The Lord Jesus Christ, continues to add to the number being discipled and we now have around 610 people in Huancayo, 40 in Bermudez and 80 in Shiringamazu and Villa America.

In April, Sue Koljeski with The Mission Society Global Resources group, came to work with us in our Children's Ministries.  Sue specializes in children at risk, and since the large majority of the children in Peru are in the category of being at risk, her expertise was of great value.  We targeted one of the problem areas, the education system, with the cooperation of Javier Palomino and the Colegio El Camino.  Javier organized a continuing education class for teachers which was offered to teachers from many of the schools.  Sue taught these teachers on appropriate discipline techniques, teaching techniques to encourage learning, puppetry arts and clowning.  Mary Alice participated with Sue translating and helping with the classes.

Arthur, Benjamin and Sue traveled to the jungle to take supplies to the missionary team there and visit the works in Shiringamazu and Villa America.  They held a two day retreat for the missionary team.  Arthur taught them from the Word, providing a time of spiritual renewal and a deepening of the vision for the work in the jungle area.  Sue taught classes on puppetry arts and clowning.  They also made arrangements for a medical campaign that is scheduled for May in Villa America.  Please be in prayer for the missionary team as they are under significant spiritual attack, especially by a spirit of division.  Their physical circumstances are also very difficult.  Please also pray for the upcoming medical campaign.

We begin working with the youth from the Iglesia Evangelica Misionera to train them to open a new Kid's Club.  Mary Alice and Susan did the primary training, and Sue and Arthur helped.  The church seems to be very excited about participating with us in this ministry.  The new Kid's Club will be initiated in early May.  Please pray for the success of this new club.

Mary Alice and Milka started a group for young women on sexual purity. They are using the book "Every Young Woman's Battle".  They have twelve young ladies participating and the first several weeks have gone really well.  Some of the participants are not believers and our hope is that they will come to know the Lord Jesus through this group.

Please continue to be in prayer for the continued growth in the ministries here in Peru, especially in the Canta Valley, Huancayo, Palcazu, Pelmaz, Bermudez, Shiringamazu, Villa America, Huánuco, Sambillo Alto, Rio Azul Ugarteche, San Augustine, KM 40 and Tinahuani.  Also, pray for the ministries in Huancayo, especially the Colegio El Camino. Please continue to pray that the Holy Spirit would continue to awaken and change hearts among the young adults of Huancayo.  Please give praise to the Lord for bringing us additional persons called to be part of the missionary team in Peru.  Covenant with us to continue in prayer for the young adult leadership team and their continued ministry to the spiritually lost and dying youth of Huancayo.  Please pray for the leaders of  the churches in Peru, and for their spiritual protection and growth in the Lord Jesus.  Also be in prayer for Obed and Cynthia Alvarez, the head of NEWMA (Mision-AMEN), as well as their other leaders and missionaries.  Please pray for our safety as we travel, and that we will boldly speak God's Word wherever we go.

We pray that God is drawing you closer and closer to Him every day. God bless you.  We love you.

  Yours in Christ,
