"Then the Lord passed by and sent a furious wind that split the hills and shattered the rocks- but the Lord was not in the wind. The wind stopped blowing, and then there was an earthquake- but the Lord was not in the earthquake.  After the earthquake there was a fire- but the Lord was not in the fire.  And after the fire there was the soft whisper of a voice.” 1 Kings 19:11b-12 VP

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.  We praise the Lord God for all He is doing in our lives and in the ministry here in Peru, for filling us with His Holy Spirit to guide and direct each of our steps, and for pouring out His grace upon us through His precious Son, Jesus Christ. We hope and pray that He has been blessing you wonderfully during this past month and that your life has been filled with His glorious riches and mercy.  We want to give you special thanks for your continued prayers for us and support of the ministry in Peru.  We definitely see the results of your prayers for us and for the ministry here.  You are special people called by our Lord Jesus Christ to minister to His children.  Thank you for your faithfulness to His calling.  Thank you for your love for Him, for us, and for His children.

January was an interesting month for us.  During the Friday night Prayer and Praise service   when the group was praying, the Holy Spirit touched Arthur’s heart three different times to go and check on his truck which was parked outside the building on the street.  He was tired, and decided not to worry about it.  The next day he realized that someone had stolen the axle lock off the front wheel of the truck.  There was a reason that the Holy Spirit talked to him the night before.  God is constantly sharing things with us; sometimes it is for our protection, and other times, it is to help someone else. When God speaks, do we listen and obey Him or do we ignore Him? I’m sure that all of us at times don’t listen to the Holy Spirit when it is not convenient, but when we do this, we have to suffer the consequences or miss the blessings that God would have given to us or someone else. The wonderful thing is that God always forgives us and gives us another chance.  What is God calling you to do? Many times He speaks in a soft whisper to us, just like he did to Elijah.  What an honor for the powerful God of the universe to speak personally with us daily! God loves to be in constant communication with us, and we encourage you to always take time to be with Him and listen and obey His voice.

Pablo Paredes reported to us that our church/discotheque in Palcazu is almost complete and should be ready to open in February. We, also, had the privilege to have a visit from Mario and Edith Ricaldi, a couple that has been touched by their participation in a discipleship group in Palcazu. Mario Ricaldi is a respected local business man in Palcazu, and his wife Edith is a teacher.  They are very interested in starting and leading a discipleship group and starting a Kid’s Club in Palcazu.  During their visit with us, they attended the Kid’s Club in Pichcus and the preparation meeting for the next week’s Club, in order to learn more about how they function.  Please pray for them as they work with Mario and Flor Sillo to spread the word of Jesus Christ in Palcazu.

NEWMA had their very special annual event in which all their missionaries come together for a time of fellowship and renewal.  Arthur, Pastor Alberto, and Genaro attended this event, as well as Susy Carbajal and Lisbet Perez, who are interested in studying to be missionaries in the school.  Susy will begin her studies in February, and Lisabet will begin her studies in September, after finishing the discipleship study with us.  Arthur had an opportunity to catch up with several of those that work with him such as Manuel Villar, Pablo Villogas, Rafael Sanchez, and many others.  This event was very refreshing for everyone.

Larry Williams of The Mission Society’s Global Resource Team and Agrimissions, worked with Jeff Morgan, an independent missionary in Lima and friend of Larry and Arthur, to give a presentation on agriculture and appropriate technologies to all the missionaries.  Larry later commented that he felt that this one of the most productive events he had participated in.  All of the Peruvian missionaries were very excited about the presentations, and Larry is scheduled to come back and teach a class in the EMLA (the mission school) later this year.

Our praise band grew in size this month. Since Benjamin will be leaving for the states very soon, someone will have to take his place, and next year, Joshua will have to be replaced, too.  David and Josías are two youth that are now playing with the band. David can play about every instrument, and  Josías can play the drums and the bass.  We praise God that He has called other members to participate in the praise band. Please continue to pray for the unity of the praise band and that God will do a mighty work in each one of their lives, as they lead people in worshiping the one true God. Also, please pray for wisdom for Pastor Beto as he leads the band.

Arthur and Ricardo Nattery have been working very hard to prepare for the medical teams that will be coming in February and March. It is a tremendous amount of work to get ready for medical teams, but usually many people accept Christ as a result of hearing about the Lord Jesus Christ in the spiritual area of the campaign.  Please pray that there will be a fruitful harvest from both medical campaigns that will be done in Huancayo by Dalton United Methodist Church from Georgia in February, and Centenary Methodist Church from Mississippi in March.

We would like to thank all of you that have helped to support the ministry here in Peru during this past year.  Without your prayers and financial support these ministries would not have happened.  We would like to especially thank those who responded to our increased need at the end of the year.  This was a special blessing for us from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Please be in prayer for each one of our workers and for each one of the ministries and projects.  Please continue to pray for financial support for the ministries both from Peruvian sources and U.S. sources.  Please continue to be in prayer for the continued growth in the ministries here in Peru, especially in the Canta Valley, Palcazu, Pelmaz,

Bermudez, Shiringamazu, Villa America, Huánuco, Sambillo Alto, Rio Azul Ugarteche, San Augustine, KM 40 and Tinahuani.  Also, pray for the ministries in Huancayo, especially the Colegio El Camino. Please continue to pray that the Holy Spirit would continue to awaken and change hearts among the young adults of Huancayo.  Please give praise to the Lord for bringing us additional persons called to be part of the missionary team in Peru.  Covenant with us to continue in prayer for the young adult leadership team and their continued ministry to the spiritually lost and dying youth of Huancayo.  Please pray for the leaders of the churches in Peru, and for their spiritual protection and growth in the Lord Jesus.  Also be in prayer for Obed and Cynthia Alvarez, the head of NEWMA (Mision-AMEN), as well as their other leaders and missionaries.  Please pray for our safety as we travel, and that we will boldly speak God's Word wherever we go.

We pray that God is drawing you closer and closer to Him every day. God bless you.  We love you.

  Yours in Christ,

Arthur, Mary Alice, Benjamin, Joshua, and Mary Beth Ivey
