And I am sure that God, who began this good work in you, will carry it on until it is finished on the Day of Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 1:6

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.  We praise the Lord God for all He is doing in our lives and in the ministry here in Peru, for filling us with His Holy Spirit to guide and direct each of our steps, and for pouring out His grace upon us through His precious Son, Jesus Christ. We hope and pray that He has been blessing you wonderfully during this past month and that your life has been filled with His glorious riches and mercy.  We want to give you special thanks for your continued prayers for us and support of the ministry in Peru.  We definitely see the results of your prayers for us and for the ministry here.  You are special people called by our Lord Jesus Christ to minister to His children.  Thank you for your faithfulness to His calling.  Thank you for your love for Him, for us, and for His children.

In July we held another leadership retreat in Molinos for discipleship leaders from the Pachitea region near Huanuco.  Pastor Alberto, his wife Karen, and Genaro Puente led this event.  Eighteen people participated from the area as well as from a place as far away as four hours called Tirishuanca.  On Sunday, these leaders were able to participate in a small group Bible study with eighty people under their direction, and five people accepted Christ. Also, one night, the ladies and men separated and studied about Sexual Purity.  Karen shared with fifty teenage and adult women about this important theme, and Alberto had 28 men of various ages.

This leadership workshop was an important step in our work to extend the Kingdom of Jesus Christ into this region.  A number of the participants were from the interior of the region and were native Quechua Panao speakers.  In the Bible study on Sunday they taught the lesson they had learned in the workshop using their native language.  This is a praise report and prayer request. These persons were chosen by the Lord Jesus Christ to help carry his Gospel to the interior of this region.  Please pray for them.  They are Eucario, Lidia, Alejandro, Alfonso, and Walter.

In addition to this blessing the translation of our first three discipleship books into the Quechua Panao is finished and the fourth is half way done.  We must still put the translation in printable form and test it.  We hope that this will be done by the end of the year and they can be printed and ready by the time of the publication of the Quechua Panao Bible in 2009.   Please  be in prayer for this project and our translator, Pablo Villogas, as we still have 15 ½ books left to translate.

July has also been a month of preparation for all of us.  In August, we will be helping with a medical campaign in Puno with Roswell United Methodist Church and Cynthia Alvarez.  Ricardo, Genaro, and Arthur have been buying medicines and supplies that will be needed in the campaign and also finding the medicines that we already have that can be used.  These campaigns are always a great way to start churches and to bear spiritual fruit, but they require significant preparation.  This campaign will be in a village called Posoconi which is the center of a group of eight villages, none of which have a Gospel presence. We call this area “Campos Blancos” or “White Fields”.   Please pray that everything will go well with this team and that many people will come to know Christ as Lord and Savior.

Pablo Paredes, a pastor from Puerto Bermudez, has been in Huancayo part of July, helping Arthur find the parts necessary for the bottle blowing machine. Arthur has been working very hard designing this machine. After completing this machine, Pablo can double his soft drink sales, because he won’t be limited to use only glass bottles. Please pray that God will give Arthur and Pablo the time, resources, and the wisdom to be able to design and finish the machine in God’s timing.

Soon Mary Alice will begin teaching methods for intentional evangelism, so she has been preparing lessons and materials for this ministry.  Please pray that the people that God calls to be in this ministry will be obedient and respond to His call, and that God will give her wisdom during her preparation and teaching.

Benjamin, even though he has returned to the states, has not stopped participating in the ministry.  Benjamin enjoyed helping David Householder with a retreat for middle school youth at Indian Springs Campground. He was only able to participate during the weekend, but he really enjoyed helping lead the worship and really felt the presence of the Lord during the retreat.

Please pray for him, as he starts his classes at Georgia Tech on August 18th.

Please be in prayer for each one of our workers and for each one of the ministries and projects, the discipleship ministry, the evangelism and church planting ministry, the prayer ministry, and the work to self sustain these ministries.  Please continue to pray for financial support for the ministries both from Peruvian sources and U.S. sources.  Please continue to be in prayer for the continued growth in the ministries in the Canta Valley, Palcazu, Pelmaz, Bermudez, Shiringamazu, Villa América, Iscosazin, Huánuco, Panao, Molinos, Ambo, Acamayo, Tinahuani, Puno, San Martín de Pango, San Ramón, and Puente Paucartambo.  Also, pray for the ministries in Huancayo, especially the Friday night Prayer and evangelism ministry.  Please continue to pray that the Holy Spirit would continue to awaken and change hearts among the young adults of Huancayo.  Please give praise to the Lord for bringing us additional persons called to be part of the missionary team in Peru.  Covenant with us to continue in prayer for the young adult leadership team and their continued ministry to the spiritually lost and dying youth of Huancayo.  Please pray for the leaders of the churches in Peru, and for their spiritual protection and growth in the Lord Jesus.  Also be in prayer for Obed and Cynthia Alvarez, the head of NEWMA, as well as their other leaders and national missionaries.  Please pray for our safety as we travel, and that we will boldly speak God's Word wherever we go.

We pray that God is drawing you closer and closer to Him every day. God bless you.  We love you.

  Yours in Christ,

Arthur, Mary Alice, Benjamin, Joshua, and Mary Beth Ivey
