"I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes; first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.  For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteous that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written; “The righteous will live by faith.”  Romans 1:16-17 NIV

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.  We praise the Lord God for all He is doing in our lives and in the ministry here in Peru, for filling us with His Holy Spirit to guide and direct each of our steps, and for pouring out His grace upon us through His precious Son, Jesus Christ. We hope and pray that He has been blessing you wonderfully during this past month and that your life has been filled with His glorious riches and mercy.  We want to give you special thanks for your continued prayers for us and support of the ministry in Peru.  We definitely see the results of your prayers for us and for the ministry here.  You are special people called by our Lord Jesus Christ to minister to His children.  Thank you for your faithfulness to His calling.  Thank you for your love for Him, for us, and for His children.

The first week in November found Arthur and Mary Alice at the biannual field leaders meeting of The Mission Society.  This meeting of the leaders for the different mission fields from around the world and the home office leadership is an extremely important five days in which the work going on in each of the fields is shared, new developments in the organization, are disseminated to the fields, and information for setting the future direction of The Mission Society is gathered and discussed.   This time together is a real encouragement to us.  It allows us to share successes and problems that different fields have and to look for and share ways to resolve these issues.  It clearly demonstrates the power that the Body of Christ has when it works in unity, and shows the immensity of Christ’s work around the world.  I wish that there was a way that each one of you could experience this awesome event

After returning from the field leaders meeting, Arthur joined up with Benjamin and Cynthia Alvarez to visit Puno in the southern region of Peru to explore the possibility of a future short term medical mission and other ways to assist the growth of the work done by national NEWMA missionaries in this region.  Upon arrival in Juliaca, we joined up with pastors Cosme Menendez and Filiberto Lima.  We met with the doctor responsible for this region in the hospital in Asillo to discuss the medical needs of the population, and from there we visited Posoconi, a site where there are no churches, but where the national missionaries have begun evangelizing.  Posoconi is a center of several small villages with a total population of around 2500.  We met with community leaders and discussed the possibility of a medical mission and their participation.  Several in this group have had strong conversion experiences and others are not yet believers.  We all prayed together for the possibility of a future medical mission to this area. Please be in prayer for the ministry and the people in this area of Peru

After returning from Puno, we celebrated Benjamin’s 19th birthday.  This will be Benjamin’s last birthday at home with us, as he will be returning to the states next year to begin his studies at Georgia Tech.  It was a joyous celebration, but filled with mixed feelings.  Benjamin is not only our oldest son, but a very important part of the ministry team here in Peru.  We will not only miss him as a son, but as a beloved brother in Christ and worker for the Kingdom of God.  Please pray for us as we go through this transition.

The discipleship groups continue to grow, and we now have over 1000 persons involved.  We have had 179 persons complete the first level of discipleship and receive their certificates.  We have also had 15 to complete the second level.  These folks are becoming much needed leaders in the ministry.  Please be in prayer for them as they step out in faith to become disciple makers.  The folks in the discipleship groups have begun to give some small offerings, also.  They are not enough to support the ministry yet, but we believe they are the first fruits of what will become a self-sustaining ministry here in Peru.  Please continue to pray for the spiritual growth of all of those who participate in this ministry and that Christ would use them mightily for the expansion of His Kingdom.

We want to thank those of you who have responded to our increase in financial need during these last two months.  It has been a great help and is deeply appreciated. We pray that the Lord Jesus would continue to bless you abundantly.  Currently, Arthur and Mary Alice are the only source of support for these ministries.  They must raise all of the funding.  During the last several months prices of almost all products in Peru have increased by approximately 20%.  In addition, the dollar has lost approximately 8% of its value here.  This change in the economy and the growth of the ministry are straining our budget.

If you feel called by the Lord Jesus to help us financially, you can send your gifts made payable to “The Mission Society” and designated Ivey Support 4/254 to:

Please continue to pray that the Holy Spirit would continue to awaken and change hearts among the young adults of Huancayo.  Please give praise to the Lord for bringing us additional persons called to be part of the missionary team in Peru.  Covenant with us to continue in prayer for the young adult leadership team and their continued ministry to the spiritually lost and dying youth of Huancayo.  Please pray for the leaders of the churches in Peru, and for their spiritual protection and growth in the Lord Jesus.  Also be in prayer for Obed and Cynthia Alvarez, the head of NEWMA (Mision-AMEN), as well as their other leaders and missionaries.  Please pray for our safety as we travel, and that we will boldly speak God's Word wherever we go.

We pray that God is drawing you closer and closer to Him every day. God bless you.  We love you.

  Yours in Christ,

Arthur, Mary Alice, Benjamin, Joshua, and Mary Beth Ivey
