"Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.””  John 14:6 NIV

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.  We praise the Lord God for all He is doing in our lives and in the ministry here in Peru, for filling us with His Holy Spirit to guide and direct each of our steps, and for pouring out His grace upon us through His precious Son, Jesus Christ. We hope and pray that He has been blessing you wonderfully during this past month and that your life has been filled with His glorious riches and mercy.  We want to give you special thanks for your continued prayers for us and support of the ministry in Peru.  We definitely see the results of your prayers for us and for the ministry here.  You are special people called by our Lord Jesus Christ to minister to His children.  Thank you for your faithfulness to His calling.  Thank you for your love for Him, for us, and for His children.

October has been a month filled with little things.  Many small unimpressive things often seem unimportant, but without them the ministry would not continue to function.  Although many times we do not think God is in the small things, if we take time to look we will see him clearly working out His glorious plan for us through these details.

We sent out several of our folks to minister in other places this month.  Lizbeth, who came to know Christ as her personal Lord and Savior early in 2006, went to La Paz, Bolivia on a two week evangelism mission.  She personally led over 50 people to the Lord Jesus, including her younger sister.  Lisbeth shared with us that the Lord has so changed her that her younger sister almost could not recognize her.  We have seen the Lord Jesus change Lizbeth from a bitter, isolated, and hate filled young woman, who had been sexually abused by her father in her childhood, to a beautiful, smiling, joyous, worker for the Kingdom of God.  Lizbeth returned from Bolivia knowing that the Lord Jesus had a plan and purpose for her life and a desire to pursue an even deeper relationship with Jesus.  We sent Lizbeth to minister with Mario and Flo in the jungle in Palcazu for three weeks, helping to start new discipleship groups there.

We also sent our mission team back to the jungle area of Iscosazin, where they will be working in discipleship until Christmas. Those on the team are Enrique and Bernardo, who are from Shiringamazu in the Iscosazin valley, Edith, Jhonatan, Edwin, Hayde, and Flo (not the one in this picture).  Miguel (not pictured) went to work with Pablo and Mario in Bermudez and Palcazu to help establish new discipleship groups there.  They will return to the jungle after the Christmas break to continue this work into next year if the Lord provides the resources for their support.  Before they returned to the jungle, Edwin and Hayde were married on October 20th.  Mary Alice and Arthur participated in their wedding as god parents.  Edwin and Hayde will be responsible for directing the ministry in the Iscosazin Valley for at least the next two years.   Please pray for these Kingdom workers and for additional financial support for this work.

Luis, who had been in charge of the work in the Iscosacin valley, will now be in Huancayo working with Arthur in the development of projects to help self-sustain these ministries.  Arthur met with an independent missionary in Lima, Jeff Morgan, who was recommended by Larry Williams of The Mission Society Global Resource Team.  Based on this initial meeting we hope to develop a working relationship between Luis, Jeff, and Billy Drum, a Mission Society missionary that will be joining us in Huancayo with his family next year.  All three have extensive experience in the area of agriculture.  With this team we will be able to push ahead with the NEWMA project for Production and Renewal in the Canta Valley, and with other potential projects in the jungle areas.  Please be in prayer for wisdom in the formation of this team and for the Drum’s language preparation period and final arrival in Huancayo next year.

Arthur and Pablo are continuing to work on increasing production in the soft drink bottling plant in Bermudez. The initial efforts have increased production, but the production is still limited by the availability of glass bottles.  Pablo and Arthur spent several days in Lima looking for sources of materials to construct a machine to produce plastic drink bottles at the plant in Bermudez.  Once the machine is functional it will remove the limit on our current production giving us an ability to substantially increase production and income.  With the increased income we should be able to support up to 8 national missionary units in the Bermudez – Palcazu region.  Please be in prayer for this project and its success.

We welcomed a new mission intern from The Mission Society, Lisa Socher, this month, also. She will work with Mary Alice in the children’s ministries and teaching English in the Colegio El Camino School during this next year.  Lisa has been adjusting to life in Huancayo rapidly and has been making friends among the young ladies that we work with.  We are already seeing some results of her work with these young women. Please be in prayer for Lisa as she continues to adjust to life in Huancayo and as she works on improving her language abilities.

Currently, Arthur and Mary Alice are the only source of support for these ministries.  They must raise all of the funding.  During the last several months prices of almost all products in Peru have increased by approximately 20%.  In addition, the dollar has lost approximately 8% of its value here.  This change in the economy and the growth of the ministry are straining our budget.

If you feel called by the Lord Jesus to help us financially, you can send your gifts made payable to “The Mission Society” and designated Ivey Support 4/254 to:

Please be in prayer for each one of our workers and for each one of the ministries and projects.  Please continue to pray for financial support for the ministries both from Peruvian sources and U.S. sources.  Please continue to be in prayer for the continued growth in the ministries here in Peru, especially in the Canta Valley, Palcazu, Pelmaz, Bermudez, Shiringamazu, Villa America, Huαnuco, Sambillo Alto, Rio Azul Ugarteche, San Augustine, KM 40 and Tinahuani.  Also, pray for the ministries in Huancayo, especially the Colegio El Camino. Please continue to pray that the Holy Spirit would continue to awaken and change hearts among the young adults of Huancayo.  Please give praise to the Lord for bringing us additional persons called to be part of the missionary team in Peru.  Covenant with us to continue in prayer for the young adult leadership team and their continued ministry to the spiritually lost and dying youth of Huancayo.  Please pray for the leaders of the churches in Peru, and for their spiritual protection and growth in the Lord Jesus.  Also be in prayer for Obed and Cynthia Alvarez, the head of NEWMA (Mision-AMEN), as well as their other leaders and missionaries.  Please pray for our safety as we travel, and that we will boldly speak God's Word wherever we go.

We pray that God is drawing you closer and closer to Him every day. God bless you.  We love you.

  Yours in Christ,
