"And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others." 2 Timothy 2:2 NIV

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Greetings in the name of our precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  We praise the Lord God for having sent His Son, Jesus Christ, who has wonderfully blessed us, and for having sent his Holy Spirit to guide and teach us. We hope and pray that He has been blessing you wonderfully during the first part of this year and that your life has been filled with His grace and mercy.  We want to give you a special thanks for your continued prayers for us and support of the ministry in Peru.  We definitely see the results of your prayers for us.  You are special people called by our Lord Jesus Christ to minister to His children.  Thank you for your faithfulness to His calling.  Thank you for your love for Him, for us, and for His children.

January and February have been months of transition for us.  We returned to the states the first of the year after having been in the field for four and a half years.  The purpose of our time here is to raise support to return to Peru for another 5 year term, to look for and recruit additional long term missionaries to work with us in Peru, to allow our children a better chance to learn the English language and the American culture, to share about the work with those of you who have partnered with us, and to work with the home office to prepare for the future work of the Mission Society in Peru.  We have had to establish a home here again for a short while (until late October), and have been home schooling the children so that our time here in the states and our travel schedule will not cause them to loose too much time in their studies. We are adjusting to being back, but the adjustments have been somewhat stressful.  Please be in prayer for our continued adjustment back in to North American culture.

We have been sharing about the ministry in Peru with our individual and church partners, and will continue to do so throughout our time here.  During January and February we shared at Mt. Bethel UMC, the Believer's Sunday School class, Dalton FUMC, Weselyan Fellowship, Royston FUMC, Morehead FUMC in Kentucky, and the President's Gathering of the Mission Society in Florida.  We also had opportunities to spend time sharing with some of our close friends and partners.  Although Arthur is the primary spokes person for the family, the whole family participates.  The children have shared at several youth events, and Benjamin was even a guest speaker at one of these.  It has been a blessing to see friends again and experience the love and care that has been poured out on us at each place.  During March and April we will continue to try to visit with our individual partners and will be sharing at the following churches:  Sugar Hill UMC, Roswell UMC,  Mountain VIew Community Church, Cornerstone UMC, Red Bank UMC,  Covenant UMC, Berkmar UMC and Mayo UMC in Kentucky as well as several other groups in Paintsville.  Please be in prayer for our travels and these events.

Thanks to e-mail we have been able to stay in touch with some of our folks in Peru.  The reports have been generally good.  The Kid's Clubs are continuing to function.  We have received word that only one of the newest Clubs in La Merced has been closed, but they indicated to us that this was only temporary.   One of our groups from the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Chilca has opened a new club on their own.  This is a real blessing.  Gonzalo is responsible for the church in Chilca and now has three Clubs under his care.  He is a precious man of God, and has, and continues to be a blessing to us.  It is also clear from some of the letters that we have received that the enemy is not happy and would like nothing more than to bring disunity and destruction to this work. Please be in prayer for all of our young adult workers, especially for wisdom and discernment to stand firm against the deceptions of the enemy.

We also have the blessing to know that one of our closest disciples, Genaro, is directing one of our medical missions this year in our absence.  He is coordinating all of the details for the team from Morehead United Methodist Church to minister in a new church that was planted last year.  The church is in Palcazu in the low jungle.  This is a tremendous organizational task and it will take all of his faith and ability to complete it.  We are also grateful to the folks from Morehead for their willingness to work with, and their confidence in, Genaro in our absence.  To see this happening is to see one of our ministry goals coming to fruition, that the work in Peru would develop a greater dependence on Jesus Christ and independence from us.  Cynthia Alvarez with Mision-AMEN will be coordinating the other medical mission in Canta and will be working with the medical team from Mayo United Methodist Church.  Please in pray for both Genaro and Cynthia as they undertake this work.

Please be in prayer with us for the transition back to the states.  Especially pray for our children, Benjamin, Joshua, and Mary Beth, as they have left behind special friends again, and have to adapt to a new culture in the U.S.  Please pray that our time in the U.S. will be productive, and that we have opportunities to raise the additional support we need to return to the work in Peru, and that we could find additional persons called to be part of the missionary team in Peru.  Covenant with us and the youth leadership team to be in regular prayer and fasting for the ministry to the lost and dying youth of Huancayo.  Please pray for the leaders in the churches in Peru; for their spiritual protection and growth in the Lord Jesus.  Also be in prayer for Obed Alvarez, the head of Mision-AMEN, as well as their other leaders and missionaries.  Please pray for our safety as we travel, and that we will boldly speak God's Word wherever we go.

We pray that God is drawing you closer and closer to Him every day. God bless you.  We love you.

*** IMPORTANT NOTICE***
We will be in the United States for several more months during 2005 to raise additional support in order to return for an additional 4 or 5 years to work in the ministry in Peru.  We will also be using this time to recruit new missionaries for the work in Peru.  If you would like to have us share with your church, Sunday school class, in your mission conference,  or other group, we would love to hear from you in order to schedule a time to visit. Our U.S. contact information is at the top of this newsletter.
